'Pelao Con Salsa' Winner Suffers Burns, Alleges Delay in Care

Nathanael Esteban, winner of the 2013 'Pelao Con Salsa' program, suffered second-degree burns while lighting wood at his home, for which he is admitted to the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital, in La Chorrera, Panamá Oeste province. The young man's relatives denounced, through social networks, the delay in his medical care. Meanwhile, the medical director of the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital, David Rodríguez, affirmed that the required medical care was provided to the patient at all times, who was admitted to the medical center with second-degree burns on his body. According to the man's relatives—he is now 28 years old—the burns were the result of an accident while he was burning wood. Rodríguez also said that upon his arrival at the emergency room, the patient was stabilized and the wounds were treated to prevent infections. Nathanael has already been admitted to the surgery room, where he will be treated for the burns he suffered on his right arm and part of his face. Dr. Rodríguez added that the patient's care was slightly delayed due to the number of people already in the emergency room prior to his admission.
